The cricket world crowned a new titan of Tests following a thrilling 2023-25 World Test Championship cycle. Continuing their dominance, South Africa defeated Australia at Lord's and secured their first-ever WTC trophy.

As the WTC finals are being held successively in England, discussions about switching venues have sparked a fresh debate. Amidst this, former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri has proposed two alternative venue ideas.

Ravi Shastri Reveals Perfect Venue For Next WTC Finals

Following the introduction of the World Test Championship, England has become the go-to venue for the WTC final. After the Rose Bowl Stadium hosted the inaugural WTC final between India and New Zealand, the Oval conducted the second ultimate clash.

Recently, the Lord's Cricket Ground hosted the latest edition of the WTC final between South Africa and Australia.

As many have suggested a venue change for the next WTC final, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has proposed two alternative grounds.

While speaking to the Wisden Cricket Podcast, as quoted by The Times Of India, he hinted that once the tournament gains more traction, a venue switch would make perfect sense.

“I think to start off initially, it’s good if it’s here (Lord’s) actually. Once it gets the popularity and eyebrows it deserves, then it can start shifting. But I think the MCG can be a great place for a World Test Championship final,” he said.

Shastri Roots For Ahmedabad As Future WTC Final Venue

Along with that, Ravi Shastri endorsed the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium as a venue for the WTC final, emphasising that the larger stadium would allow more fans to enjoy the thrilling red-ball action.

“Ahmedabad can be a great place for the WTC final. Basically, the places where you can draw a crowd. Because Lord’s is not a 100,000-seater stadium. So, irrespective of which team is playing, you know you will get a good crowd,” he added.

The upcoming edition of the WTC final will also take place at the Lord's as India's bid to host the 2027 edition was rejected. Being a neutral venue, England will continue to host the 2029 and 2031 WTC finals.
