Gambhir made a surprise call by picking Parag in both ODIs and T20Is vs SL (X.com)

The BCCI, under the leadership of secretary Jay Shah, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir, made a surprise call by picking Riyan Parag for both in ODI and T20I squad for Sri Lanka tour, which will begin on July 27 in Pallekele.

While the selection was debatable, given the fact that there were Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhishek Sharma, who performed really well in the recently-concluded Zimbabwe tour, did not get a place.
