Five years back, this day marked another milestone in Indian cricket history as they clinched their seventh Asia Cup title in a nail-biting final against Bangladesh. The 2018 Asia Cup final saw India chase down 223 runs in a dramatic way.

Taking charge in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma put on his leadership masterclass and also top-scored for the Men in Blue in the final, scoring 48 runs from 55 deliveries. Additionally, Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni chipped in with 37 and 36 runs, respectively.

In the first half, Kuldeep Yadav and Kedar Jadhav teamed up and picked up five wickets together as India bowled Bangladesh out for 222 runs.

On the Bangla Tigers' side, Liton Das stole the show, smashing a brilliant 121 with 12 fours and two sixes. Later, he got the 'Player of the Match' title, even though India was the winning side.

Recently, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India added another feather to their cap by winning the Asia Cup 2023 title, where they outclassed Sri Lanka in a lopsided match.

With their latest win in 2023, India secured its eighth Asia Cup title, solidifying its position as the most dominant team in Asia Cup history.

Sri Lanka follows as the second most successful team with six titles, while Pakistan has won twice, and Bangladesh is still chasing their first Asia Cup championship.

Rohit Sharma, currently India's all-format captain, now boasts two Asia Cup titles. He also captained the team to victory in the Nidahas Trophy 2018, clinched the Champions League T20 in 2013, and has five IPL championships.
