The political tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have increased in the last few days, with both countries attacking each other. The recent attack by Pakistan has killed three Afghan cricketers, and it has created a lot of anger in Afghanistan.

The Afghanistan cricket board has now decided not to play in the tri-series against Pakistan, and many cricketers, including Rashid Khan, have criticised Pakistan. Now, the former Afghanistan captain Karim Sadiq has also lashed out at Pakistan in an exclusive chat with NDTV.

Afghanistan to boycott Pakistan like India

Sadiq mentioned that they are Pathans and are not afraid of the attack, but called the attack from Pakistan a cowardly act. He added that they have lost three major and five minor cricketers, but warned Pakistan that it would not stop cricket in their country. He added that they will also not shake hands with Pakistan cricketers like Indian players did during Asia Cup 2025.

"We are Pathans. We are not afraid of any attack. Three of our major and five of our minor cricketers were killed. Our children come from poor homes. Most people here eat only one meal a day. By killing them, Pakistan has done a cowardly act. But all this will not stop cricket. We will continue to play cricket. But now, just like India, we will also not shake hands with Pakistan," Karim Sadiq told NDTV.

He also questioned the logic of labelling the Afghan people as terrorists. He added that their religion is love and they want to send that message through cricket. He stated that the attack on cricketers who were innocently eating in a guesthouse is very saddening.

"What do you think, can I be a terrorist? Can Rashid Khan be a terrorist? We are Pathans. Our religion is love. We send a message of love and friendship to the world through cricket. The cowardly attack on cricketers eating dinner in a guesthouse at night is very saddening."

Thus, there is widespread anger in Afghanistan against Pakistan, and it is highly likely that their cricketing relations will not be smooth in the near future.
