Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) haven’t had the best time playing at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. They’ve played three matches there this season and lost all of them. But on April 24, they have a big chance to turn things around when they take on Rajasthan Royals.

What’s Going Wrong At M Chinnaswamy Stadium?

Ahead of this important match, RCB captain Rajat Patidar explained why playing at Chinnaswamy has been tough this year. Normally, this stadium is known to be great for batting, but things have changed. The pitches have become unpredictable and tricky. In fact, the average score in the first innings here is just 142 — the lowest at any stadium this season.

“We have not played good cricket in our home matches and you have talked about the toss, it's not in my hand, so, let's see. And this time, wickets are a bit tricky and unpredictable over here, but that is not an excuse. So, we'll try to adapt the situation and condition as quick as possible,” Patidar said.

How Are RCB Staying Positive?

Even though they’ve lost at home, RCB have been doing better in away matches. Patidar says the team is focused on staying in the present.

“For us, I think it is about being in the present moment because in this league, you have back-to-back matches. So, it's important to learn from the past and from the errors. We don't keep talking about our home matches that we have lost; we focus on the present as much as possible, which is more important. We always try to do our best on that day,” he added.

He also pointed out that selecting the right shots and playing them well is really important, especially on these tricky pitches.

RCB will now face RR, who themselves are struggling. RR have lost four games in a row, and two of them slipped away in the final over. To make it harder for them, their regular captain Sanju Samson is still out with an injury, and young Riyan Parag will continue as stand-in skipper, although he hasn’t been at his best this season.

With both teams under pressure, the April 24 match in Bengaluru promises to be a big one. RCB will be hoping to finally grab their first home win of the season.
