On The Shift To The Top Order

Along with batting brilliance, KL Rahul is known for his flexibility to bat at any order. After batting as a number 4 batter in the last game, KL Rahul opened the innings against the Chennai Super Kings and played a spectacular knock of 77 runs in just 51 balls. His masterclass thrilled the fans, and after the win, he shared his thoughts on the batting order shift.

“It's just how it's been. I'm quite used to it. Personally, I was preparing to play at the top of the order before I came here at the start of the IPL. I had a chat with the coach and he said he wanted me to bat at number 4. One of the senior pros didn't turn. I just had to take up the role. I was glad that I got the opportunity to play today at the top of the order.” Rahul said.

What Makes Rahul’s Flexibility So Perfect?

Batting in the middle order or opening the innings, things may look tough from the outside, but KL Rahul’s batting brilliance made the thing easy. After playing an impactful quick-fire knock against SRH, he came back in beast mode while playing as an opener against CSK. But what’s the secret behind his seamless transitions? After the win, he shared his thoughts.

“It's mental. It's just pattern and process of getting in. Getting used to walking in. I have a few routines. Getting used to doing same thing. Since I'm going up and down the order, I take some balls to get set.” he said.

“That's the challenge of it. Whatever my routines are, I get through it and then, it's about the battle between the bat and the ball. I have been working on those of getting through those things,” he added.

After a dominating display throughout the match, Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs. This dominating victory made a significant impact on the points table as the Delhi Capitals dethroned the Punjab Kings and become the table topper with 6 points.
