Delhi Capitals faced Kolkata Knight Riders in match 16 of the Indian Premier League at Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium, Vizag on April 3, 2024.

The Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders has had a remarkable start in the cash-rich league getting a hat-trick of wins and is currently at the top of the points table.

KKR star batter Sunil Narine put up a terrific show with explosive hitting and smashing a scintillating half-century in just 21 balls but missing out on a potential century. Captain Rishabh Pant played an explosive knock against the Knight Riders, but that wasn't enough to come close to the target.

This stellar fifty was his second successive fifty in the IPL 2024 after his strong comeback to the competitive action. Pant's 55-run knock went in vain as Delhi Capitals suffered a massive 106-run loss.

Ricky Ponting On Rishabh Pant's Explosive Knock

Ricky Ponting after the match elucidated that for Rishabh Pant the run-chase was the perfect situation for him after his comeback to gain some confidence and make a powerful return to cricket.

"Pleased for him, what he did with the bat. A situation like that, where he had to go out and attack from the start is probably a scenario that he needed just to get some confidence back. He's actually had two good games with the bat now, which is great," said Ponting.

Rishabh Pant has made his comeback after his lengthy layoff during the ongoing edition of the IPL and has regained his form in the last two matches. And Ricky Ponting praised him for his dynamic style of playing and his blazing consecutive fifties against Chennai Super Kings and KKR.

The Delhi Capitals skipper was struggling a bit while running and even called physio on the field for recovery. Ricky Ponting removed rumours regarding any injury and explained it could be because of tiredness.

Delhi Capitals will now travel to Mumbai to face Mumbai Indians on April 7, 2024, at Wankhede Stadium.
