Mayank Yadav, the 21-year-old, has become the talk of the town after his extraordinary performance for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024 edition.

The young bowler made his debut in the cash-rich league for KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings. The Delhi cricketer made headlines and etched his name in the record books after bowling one of the fastest deliveries in the Indian Premier League.

Mayank has scalped 6 wickets in two matches with a terrific combination of speed and pace. He became the first player in the history of the Indian Premier League to win the Player of the Match award in the two matches he played.

Glenn Maxwell is one of the finest all-rounders in the world of cricket and was one of the victims of Mayank Yadav with Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar in the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Glenn Maxwell On Terrific Bowling Speed of Mayank Yadav:

"I thought it was really impressive, He hurried on a few of the Punjab batters and I certainly did a little bit of homework before coming up against him. But it's nothing doing homework against someone until you see it coming out of the hand and have to try and pick up the length,” Maxwell said to ESPNcricinfo.

The Australian player admitted that he faced trouble in front of the younger pacer and was caught off guard by the sheer pace.

"He has some real extra speed that you don't see a lot of around world cricket at the moment. You see guys bowl pretty consistently around the 140s [kph] or high 140s. But to have mid-150s consistently in your arsenal is pretty formidable," he added.

The express bowler from Delhi launched himself in IPL by recording his name to bowl the fastest ball of IPL 2024: a thunderbolt measuring 156.7 kph. He has already risen to the second spot in the IPL 2024 Purple Cap standings, taking six wickets in two games.

Lucknow Super Giants will play next against Gujarat Titans on Monday (April 7) in Match 21 of IPL (2024) at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
