After being sub-par in the opening three IPL 2024 matches, Shubman Gill has finally come to life. 

The GT skipper loves playing in Ahmedabad and he showed it once again in the ongoing IPL match against the Punjab Kings. Put into bat, the onus was on Gill to give a flying start, and he did just that.

Gill recreates Kohli special

The GT opening batter was aggressive and played some delightful strokes to mesmerise the fans. However there was one particular hit that brought back the memories of Virat Kohli and the iconic six against Haris Rauf in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Kagiso Rabada, Punjab's best bowler delivered a length ball on the stumps and Gill was up for the challenge. He took a step out of the crease and struck a majestic six down the ground, while holding the pose.

The down the ground six has been made famous by Kohli, who hammered it on the biggest stage under immense pressure.

Talking about the GT-PBKS match, GT have scored 123/3 at the time of writing. Skipper Gill is batting well on 46 and has been joined by Vijay Shankar at the crease, after the dismissal of Kane Williamson.
