After Pakistan’s exit from Champions Trophy 2025, veteran cricketer Imad Wasim warned the team of irreversible damage. He opined that if Pakistan doesn’t improve its standards, fans will lose interest and stop watching the game altogether.
Pakistan cricket is at its lowest phase currently. Since 2023, the team has witnessed early exits in three major ICC tournaments.
In the recent blunder, the green men became the first to be eliminated from Champion Trophy 2025 despite being the hosting country.
In such desperate situations, former cricketers have expressed their concerns, calling for the team to raise its standards before it is too late.
Imad Wasim Fires Warning At Pakistan Cricket After Champions Trophy Shocker
Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has lashed out at the national team's dismal performance in the Champions Trophy 2025, calling it frustrating and uninspiring.
After Pakistan crashed out in the group stage, Imad, in a viral video, expressed his disappointment, stating that even he doesn’t feel like watching Pakistan play anymore.
“You got to play cricket like it should be played at. This is not the right way. For me, if you ask me as a cricketer, not even as a Pakistani, as a cricketer, I watch some of the games of the Pakistan team play, and I feel I just don’t want to watch it. Look, the interest will lose eventually. People won’t come and watch cricket if we play like this," Wasim said.
Imad also slammed the lack of attacking intent in Pakistan's approach, pointing out that teams like England and Australia played aggressive cricket, drawing full crowds, whereas Pakistan looked stuck in the past.
Pakistani Cricketers Humiliated During The Hundred Draft
To everyone's surprise, no Pakistan player was selected in The Hundred 2025 Draft despite having 44 registered Pakistani cricketers on the list, including stars such as Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, Saim Ayub, Imad Wasim, and Azam Khan.
Although New Zealand and Australian players dominated the draft, nine Kiwis and eight Aussies signed contracts, Pakistani cricketers were entirely overlooked by the eight franchise sides.
Needless to say, this marks another disappointing moment for Pakistan cricket on the global stage.
