On Saturday, the tri-nation series between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa kicked off at the Gaddafi Stadium when the hosts locked horns against New Zealand in the first match. The ongoing series will act as a practice ground for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 which starts on February 19.

Talking about hosts Pakistan, they are touted as the favourites and were the last to announce their squad for the prestigious ICC event. However, the squad drew criticism as it had several surprise entries, who were out of the team for a long time.

Meanwhile, the selection of Faheem Ashraf and Khushdil Shah were questioned as they were selected on the basis of their performance in the recently concluded BPL. Further, the fans' cry grew over the issue and in the latest events, both captain Mohammad Rizwan and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had to break their silence on the matter.

It is worth noting that all eight teams have time till February 12 to make changes to their squad. Recently, Rizwan spoke on the matter and ruled out any possibility of last-minute changes to the 15-member list. However, the PCB chairman had contrasting views and instead hinted at some changes.

Mohsin Naqvi Opens Up on Squad Controversy

Naqvi remarked that the selectors have the right to review their selection but also heaped praise on Khushdil and Faheem.

The selectors have the right to review any squad they announce. Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf have been included in the squad with the right intentions. Yes they are now reviewing the squad because they have time until February 12 to make changes if they want," he said to a reporter as quoted by News18.

Talking about the potential changes, then Shadab Khan and Aamer Jamal are the two contenders to get a place in the team.
