REN vs HUR: Team Previews
Melbourne Renegades
The Men in Red are having a horrible BBL 13 season as they started the tournament with four losses in a row until their win against Adelaide Strikers before New Year’s Eve. However, their winning streak lasted only one match, following their defeat in the last game against their Co-derby rivals, the Melbourne Stars.
It was a rain-shortened game, and the Renegades, batting first, failed to put a formidable total on the board. As a result, the Stars took the target down with ease, handing the other side of Melbourne their fifth defeat in seven games.
Shaun Marsh made an excellent return with two half-centuries from the three games he played. Besides that, barring Jake Fraser-McGurk, the entire batting unit of Melbourne Renegades has been pretty ordinary throughout the tournament.
Moreover, the likes of Adam Zampa and Tom Rogers have failed to deliver with the ball, contributing to what has been a season to forget for the Melbourne-based club. In team news, Joe Clarke has suffered a leg injury and will not take part for Gades’ in the remainder of the season.
Hobart Hurricanes
On the other hand, Hobart Hurricanes are coming on the back of a big win as they successfully chased down the target set by Sydney Thunders on New Year’s Day. They are currently placed fifth in the league standings and are still very much in the race to the knockouts.
The Hurricanes will be seeking to repeat what they achieved in their last meeting with Melbourne Renegades earlier in the tournament. Matthew Wade’s only half-century of the season came against the Renegades, helping the Men in purple to chase down a formidable 184-run target.
They also have a pretty solid batting on paper with Ben McDermott back amongst the runs. With the ball, the Hurricanes would like to have their star duo Riley Meredith and Nathan Ellis, at their best, which has not been the case in the competition so far.
With half of the league matches left in their hands, the Hurricanes can give a real go and carry the winning momentum to get the maximum points from their trip to Melbourne.

REN vs HUR: Docklands Stadium, Pitch Report
The surface at the Docklands Stadium generally provides good bounce for the fast bowlers with a bit of movements early on. Moreover, the spinners come into the play as the game progresses. Batting becomes easier in the second half, and therefore, the team winning the toss is likely to bowl first.
