In a candid take on cosmic support from the home crowd for this WPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women star Ellyse Perry expressed gratitude and revealed how the rival teams and players have been jealous of the RCB fans.

After the success of the Women's Premier League (WPL) inaugural season in 2023, BCCI decided to expand the league into a multi-city format. For the WPL 2024 season, the board granted hosting rights to Bangalore's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The first half of the tournament was scheduled at Bangalore, where the home team, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women, has been subject to an overwhelming reception.

During the first game, captain Smriti Mandhana had an awestruck moment when she struggled to speak at toss due to the crowd's blaring roar. Moreover, after RCB's recent win against Gujarat Giants Women, the Chinnaswamy crowd went berserk, and the entire stadium reverberated with joyful chants for the home team.

Needless to say, the overwhelming response from the fans left RCB star all-rounder and Australian legend Ellyse Perry in complete awe. After the recent win, she told the team how the cheers at Chinnaswamy have been the loudest for them so far this WPL season. She deemed the crowd's backing as an added advantage for them this year.

"There's so loud voices out there at Chinnaswamy stadium and all cheering for us. It's such a huge advantage. Talking to the girls from other teams, they're just really jealous of how great our fans are," Ellyse Perry said in a short interview.

Perry further revealed that when she talks to other teams, the rival players tell her how they have been feeling jealous of the unwavering support and the exciting fanbase of RCB.

RCB fanbase has historically been known for its unconditional support of the men's team in IPL. Despite the trophy drought, the Bangalore crowd never disappoints when it comes to being RCB's twelfth man from the stands.

Indeed, similar support has been on display for the women's team as well this year, irrespective of the previous season's debacle.
