Being the iconic venue for the game of cricket, Wankhede Stadium has been a landmark of Indian cricket. Adding another feather to its crown, it has welcomed another wonder as the Mumbai Cricket Association inaugurated the MCA Sharad Pawar Cricket Museum at the stadium.
As the venue unveiled its newest addition, it quickly stirred controversy. Former Indian Hockey team captain Viren Rasquinha’s recent comment sparked buzz.
MCA’s Newest Inauguration Sparks Controversy
Despite not being a cricket player, Sharad Pawar has served the game of cricket for a long. Along with serving the Indian cricket team, he served the highest cricket body as ICC’s President from 2010-12. Adding to this, he served as the President of BCCI from 2005 to 2008. Beyond the national stage, his immense contribution to the Mumbai Cricket Association remains invaluable and beyond measure.
Acknowledging his exceptional effort, the Mumbai Cricket Association honored him with a whole museum at the Wankhede Stadium. On Saturday, the event was organized by the cricket association, and a life-size idol of the former MCA President was installed at the iconic cricket venue.
As the celebration was going on, former Indian hockey team captain and Olympian Viren Rasquinha’s recent comment on this sparked buzz. On his social media handle, he wrote, “Looks stunning. Only wish it had been named after a cricket player.” That move fueled controversy.
