'Not What Rohit Wants From Him'- Cricket Veterans Assess Jaiswal's IPL 2024 Poor Run

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are riding high in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), maintaining an unbeaten streak with four wins from four matches.

Amidst their success, the form of their star opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has become a talking point. Following a spectacular Test series against England, the 22-year-old has struggled to make an impact in the ongoing IPL 2024, raising concerns ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Different approaches from Jaffer, McClenaghan

Wasim Jaffer and Mitchell McClenaghan offer contrasting views on Jaiswal's approach to overcoming his current slump. Jaffer suggests that Jaiswal should "give himself a little bit of time" at the crease, considering the solid performance of teammate Jos Buttler.

"He was riding high on a purple high for quite some time. Additionally, you can occasionally express yourself when you enter the room with little expectation. He's a big name now, but he's trying to force himself too soon with his batting," Jaffer told Cricbuzz.

On the other hand, McClenaghan believes Jaiswal should stick to his aggressive playing style, aligning with the expectations of the Indian team management and specifically Rohit Sharma's strategy for the T20 World Cup 2024.

"That's not what Rohit Sharma wants from his top-order batters. He wants them to take positive options, he wants them to be aggressive," McClenaghan emphasized, supporting Jaiswal's approach even after a brief innings against RCB.

With scores of 24, 5, 10, and 0 across four matches in IPL 2024 so far, Jaiswal failed to shine and he aims to rediscover his form.

As the RR prepares to face the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday, all eyes will be on Jaiswal to deliver a performance that not only aligns with the expectations of his IPL team but also lays down a marker for his role in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
