The business end of IPL 2025 is here and the stakes couldn’t be higher. With just three teams left standing, Shikhar Dhawan has made his pick loud and clear and it’s Mumbai Indians all the way.

Dhawan Backs Mumbai Indians To Go All The Way

The former India opener has thrown his weight behind the Hardik Pandya-led MI, calling them a “well-balanced” and “strong” side that has picked up serious steam at just the right time.

Speaking to India Today, the 39-year-old veteran shared his take on the final stretch of the tournament:

“This time, the IPL has been very exciting. For the finals, my support will be with Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai Indians team is playing really well — they are very balanced. The way they've gained momentum is outstanding, and they are a very strong and well-balanced team. So, I’m with Mumbai Indians.”

That is a big vote of confidence coming from a man who has been in the trenches, played big games and knows what it takes to go all the way.

Mumbai Indians Hit Their Stride At The Right Time

After a dismal start to the season, Mumbai Indians have caught fire when it matters most. They brushed aside Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator on May 30 and are now just one win away from the final. Next up is a massive Qualifier 2 clash against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1.

With big names like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and skipper Hardik Pandya stepping up, MI look like a unit that is peaking at the perfect moment. The five-time champions have been here before and they know how to handle crunch games.

PBKS Stand In The Way

Standing between MI and their seventh IPL final is none other than,Punjab Kings. The irony isn’t lost but Dhawan seems to be speaking with his cricket brain, not just his heart.

PBKS, led by Shreyas Iyer, have looked solid too, but beating a red-hot MI in a knockout game is never easy. The winner will meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3.
