Unlike the rest of the world, Rohit Sharma is not consumed by the thoughts of 'Bazball' ahead of the opening Test of the series against England in Hyderabad, starting Thursday (January 25).

Even as the tourists' ultra aggressive approach poses a unique threat to India's dominance, the skipper wore an unfussed outlook and urged his team to play to its strengths, that have allowed the hosts to retain a 12-year unbeaten streak in home conditions.

Rohit would be aware that his legacy as India Test captain could be determined by how the home side tackles the Englishmen and their attacking ways over the next five Tests. However, there is no sense of extra pressure felt by the calming head to try and upstage the spirited opposition.

Rohit Sharma On 'Bazball' Threat

"We will look to play our cricket. I am not interested in how the opposition is going to play. I am focused on what we want to do as a team," Rohit said at the pre-match press conference held in Hyderabad on Wednesday (January 24).

The veteran opener, who boasts a tremendous record in home conditions since transforming his fortunes as the designated top-order bat, also spoke of his best means to counter the turning pitches that are expected over the course of the five Tests.

Since he began opening the innings in September 2019, Rohit has been one of the stand-out batters in world cricket, averaging 51.23 from 27 Tests. His average in home conditions is an even better 58.71 over 15 Tests with five centuries. Rohit will be key to India's fortunes with the bat against England.
