[Watch] Noor Ahmad Skids One Past Kieron Pollard For A Duck In SA 20 League

Kieron Pollard may be renowned for his great dominance and belligerence in T20 cricket against the seamers, especially in the end-overs phase. However, the towering West Indies powerhitter emerges a pale shadow of his beast self when he confronts wristspinners in the shortest format.

When he was still an active international player for the Calypso Kings, Pollard averaged a woeful 17.70 while scoring just 101.6 against all wristspinners over 44 T20Is. Even though he has a SR of 144.3 in his domestic T20 career versus all tweakers, the right-hand maverick averages lower than 33.

Pollard's prolonged struggles versus wristspinners continued on Tuesday (January 23) night in the SA20 League 2024. The MI Cape Town skipper was undone by Durban Super Giants left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad, who ran past his defence on the right-hander for a duck.

Pollard Dismissed By Noor For A Duck

Facing Noor from the over-the-wicket angle for a left-arm tweaker in the 15th over of the MI Cape Town run-chase, Pollard couldn't simply pick the wristspinner and was beaten on his defensive prod to be LBW first ball.

Given how plumb it looked, the umpire wasted no time signalling Pollard out while the Super Giants celebrated the return of the big fish in their quest to defend the competitive 157/6.

When MI desperately needed their skipper and middle-order aggressor to rise up to the occasion, Pollard failed to provide them the blitz for once and couldn't live up to his dangerous reputation.

Once he got dismissed, MI's downward spiral only fastened as they collapsed to just 121/9 in 20 overs, losing the game by a heavy margin of 36 runs.

It was the Cape Town franchise's fourth defeat in six league games. They were left stranded at the fourth spot in the high-intensity race to bag the playoff spots.
