With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 being held in India, several subcontinental teams are in contention to win the coveted title. Former pacer and World Cup winner Aaqib Javed believes that Pakistan head into the marquee tournament as clear favourites.

Pakistan will begin their CWC 2023 campaign against Qualifier 1 on October 9, and meet arch-rivals and hosts India on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. However, Pakistan's participation in the global showpiece still depends on its government's approval.

As per Geo News, Javed, who was part of Pakistan's WC-winning run in 1992, explained that similar conditions in India will help players adjust quickly.

Here's what Javed said

"Pakistan team right now is much better than before and should be considered as one of the favourites for the World Cup."

Pakistan are scheduled to play two matches each at Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and one match at Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan are scheduled to play against each other multiple times in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, which will happen across two nations - Pakistan and Sri Lanka - starting August 31.

The ten-nation World Cup 2023 gets underway on October 5 and goes on until November 19, with defending champions England and 2019 runners-up New Zealand locking horns in the tournament opener.
