Former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has addressed Ambati Rayudu's recent comments about his exclusion from the 2019 World Cup squad. Prasad clarified that the decision was made collectively by the entire selection committee and not solely by him. The controversy surrounding Rayudu's omission from the World Cup team remains a subject of debate in Indian cricket.

Rayudu had made a successful comeback to the national team in 2018 after an impressive IPL season with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He had been given a consistent opportunity in the ODI team. However, despite his performances, he was unexpectedly left out of the 2019 World Cup squad, with the relatively inexperienced Vijay Shankar taking his place.

In a recent revelation, Rayudu hinted that his past relationship with Prasad may have influenced his exclusion from the prestigious ICC tournament. Rayudu mentioned disagreements with Prasad during their time together in domestic cricket back in 2005.

Responding to Rayudu's comments, Prasad emphasized that the selection committee consists of five selectors and the captain. He clarified that decisions are not made by a single individual but rather through consensus and collective agreement within the committee. Prasad stated that while he may propose something, it ultimately requires acceptance from others.

“All of us know that the selection committee has got five selectors and the captain sitting in the selection committee. Will any single person’s decision be taken or is it a consensus or is it an entire collective decision that would be taken? If an individual can take a decision then you don’t require five selectors. So any decision that is taken only happens with the consensus of the entire selection committee. So it is a collective decision. Not an individual decision. I may propose something but somebody else has to accept it. No individual decision will prevail in a committee,"  MSK Prasad told timesnownews.com.

Prasad's remarks shed light on the collaborative nature of the selection process, where decisions are made collectively by taking into account multiple perspectives and opinions.
