The Pakistan Cricket Board announced Mohsin Naqvi as the new chairman of the board on Tuesday, February 6.

In a statement on social media, PCB said that Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab province's caretaker chief minister, was unanimously elected for the top job for a three-year term.

Mohsin Naqvi assumes the role of the fourth chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board within just four years, highlighting the persistent instability in the board's administration.

Upon assuming the role, Naqvi has made it clear that his primary objective is to rejuvenate Pakistan cricket, pledging to eradicate the culture of favouritism.

In recent years, there has been increasing scrutiny and revelations regarding the undue influence of favouritism on the selection process of the Pakistan cricket team.

In addition, former Pakistan coach Misbah-ul-Haq recently disclosed that both local and foreign coaches are reluctant to work with the Pakistan cricket team due to the instability within the system.

Here's what the new PCB chairman has said after resuming the role:

“No sifarishi culture will be accepted in PCB now. I'm very much concerned for Pakistan Cricket Team. I want to bring matters of Pakistan Cricket on the right path. We will not hesitate to appoint foreign coaches for Pakistan incase required.”

It remains to be seen whether Naqvi can implement meaningful changes within the Pakistan cricket team and steer it toward a positive trajectory amidst the ongoing turmoil.
