Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes that due to uncertainty in Pakistan Cricket Board and its ‘short-sightedness’, foreigners and even local coaches don't want to work with them.

Misbah, who wore both coaching and chief selector hats for Pakistan from 2019 to 2021, blasted the PCB, stating that players and coaches were sacked from the system based on one or two series defeats.

Here’s what the former Pakistan captain told media in Karachi:

“If you look at the policies of the board leave alone foreign coaches I don't think even our local coaches want to work with the PCB.”

Misbah-ul-Haq further pointed out that the current functioning of the cricket board is not in line with how it should be, noting that a change in team leadership triggers a complete transformation of the system.

“Pakistan cricket should not be run in such a haphazard manner and we need to have long term plans for the team management, selectors and grooming of players. Unfortunately in Pakistan a change in the board leadership changes everything.”

‘Players shouldn't get NOCs for leagues before World Cup' - Misbah-ul-Haq

Lately, there's been significant turmoil between the PCB and certain Pakistan players over the denial of NOCs. Misbah-ul-Haq chimed in, questioning why the board wouldn't grant NOCs when players are available, free, and can participate in leagues to earn income.

However, the former Pakistan coach also believes that the cricket board should not grant NOC is to the players before World Cup.

“If a player is free for say two months why shouldn't he be allowed to go and earn money in a league but yes giving permission to players before the World Cup was a big mistake.”

The former Pakistan coach further urged the PCB to bring 'situation' based NOC policies:

"I say, have a situation based policy for NOCs and foreign leagues."

The top Pakistan players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Shaheen Afridi are currently participating in T20 leagues. This experience will undoubtedly serve as excellent preparation for the T20 World Cup in 2024, scheduled to be played in the USA.
