Pat Cummins is currently out of action because of an injury he has been nursing since Australia's 3-0 series defeat against West Indies in July. The Australia skipper will be missing the upcoming IND vs AUS ODI series and might also skip the Ashes opener against England.
After the skipper is out of game time for quite some time, ahead of the India tour opener on October 19, Cummins picked his all-time India-Australia combined XI, where he named three Indian legends.
Pat Cummins only names retired legends in the XI
Pat Cummins was excited when he was asked to name the combined XI from India and Australia. However, he peculiarly chose not to mention Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who are also coming back in their national colours after a long time to play in and against Australia.
Barring the two popular names, Cummins picked legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar as the opener alongside David Warner. The top order was then followed by Ricky Ponting, Steve Smith, Shane Watson and Michael Bevan.
MSD finds his place in Cummins' all-time XI
While Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed to find a place in Cummins' XI, another retired Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, made his place. Cummins noted him as the wicketkeeper batter and also named Shane Warne as the specialist spinner in the playing XI.
Amidst the three pacers picked by Cummins, one was India's Zaheer Khan, while the other two were Aussie greats Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath.
Here's what Pat Cummins' all-time India-Australia combined XI looks like:
David Warner, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Steve Smith, Shane Watson, Michael Bevan, MS Dhoni, Shane Warne, Brett Lee, Zaheer Khan, Glenn McGrath.
