Rohit later travelled to New Delhi, where he joined the Indian squad on October 15. The team was seen leaving from Delhi International Airport in the morning. Rohit, wearing India’s national jersey for the first time in months, will be playing for the side in the opening ODI against Australia on October 19 under new skipper Shubman Gill.
Rohit Sharma's record Down Under
Rohit Sharma's record Down Under with the bat is more than impressive. From 30 matches in Australia, Rohit has bagged 1328 runs at an average of 53.12. He bagged 5 centuries and four half-centuries in the process, but most of them, in a losing cause.
Notably, Rohit, against Australia, has better figures playing under a skipper. Being a skipper, Rohit averages 47.85 from his 6 matches against Australia, while playing under one, he averages 61.33 from 40 matches.
Nevertheless, the MI star last faced the Australia side on Match 4 during the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final and managed to score only 28 runs while chasing a 265-run target. From his last 5 encounters against the Men in Yellow, only two boast impressive scores of 81 and 47 back in 2023.
