The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently held a special meeting called ‘Share & Care’ at a Dhaka hotel, and it turned out to be an eye-opener. Players of the national men’s team, along with the coaching staff, flagged pressing issues about the lack of recovery facilities.
The initiative was started by BCB president Aminul Islam, who wanted players and board members to come together, speak openly, and work as one team.
According to Cricbuzz, everyone was given a form to fill in, and it quickly became clear that the players were not fully satisfied, especially with the country’s cricket practice facilities.
Bangladesh Players Unhappy With State-Of-The-Art Facilities
According to the report, most Bangladesh players gave poor ratings to the BCB-provided facilities, marking them below standard.
The medical team also presented their report, admitting that they lacked proper equipment, modern gyms, hydrotherapy, and recovery facilities like ice baths and saunas, which top cricket nations already use.
They also reportedly blamed bureaucratic delays and a shortage of logistics for not being able to match international standards.
For BCB president Aminul Islam, this was a reality check. He admitted the board needs to improve and promised that another review meeting will be held in three months to track progress.
"We have conducted a survey among the players, where they have written their thoughts alongside marking. What really felt good is that they were physically present today and shared their problems, successes, and even said that they were happy with the support they are getting from BCB at different levels. But there are some areas of improvement," Islam said.
Interestingly, despite raising serious concerns, many players also appreciated the support they received from the BCB in some areas. But they made it clear that basic infrastructure needs urgent attention.
Bangladesh To Face Netherlands Next
Meanwhile, in the lead-up to the Asia Cup 2025, Bangladesh will face the Netherlands in a 3-game T20I series beginning on August 30. Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz has, however, withdrawn from the series, citing personal reasons.
After this series, Bangladesh will kick off their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on September 11 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
