Peshawar Zalmi clinched a thrilling victory against Islamabad United in the 13th match of PSL 2024 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Monday. Babar Azam's exceptional performance led his team to an 8-run win, marking a significant moment in PSL 2024.

Batting first, Peshawar Zalmi posted a formidable total of 201/5 in 20 overs, largely thanks to Babar Azam's outstanding unbeaten century. His 111* off 63 balls, supported by 14 boundaries and 2 sixes, anchored the innings despite the early collapse of the top order.

Babar Azam's resilience and skill were evident throughout the match, especially during the post-match interview, where he emotionally expressed his joy and credits.

"Very happy, my mother is here and hope she enjoyed the match. Me and Saim Ayub started the powerplay and were happy with our execution. I had to change plans after we lost a couple of wickets. I was looking for one big over and I had to utilize that one,” Babar said during the post-match interview.

It was the first time Babar Azam's mother came to see him play during PSL, adding to the emotional significance of his century.

"This was one of my best innings in front of this crowd. Our bowlers did very well. When Azam got out, I thought let's take a chance and bowl Arif the 19th over. He is an experienced player and experience always helps. Management always gives the players the confidence they need. We are confident going forward and will look to carry the winning momentum," Babar added.

The victory marks Peshawar Zalmi's third consecutive win in the tournament, propelling them to third position in the points table. Babar Azam, the 29-year-old captain of Peshawar Zalmi, showcased his leadership and batting class with his second century in PSL. Notably, both centuries came while batting first in 83 PSL matches.

Looking ahead, Peshawar Zalmi gear up to face Lahore Qalandars on 2nd March, with all eyes on Babar Azam following his remarkable performance.
