'MS Meant It, Guys Now Just Use The Word': Venkatesh Prasad Tears Hardik Pandya & Co. Apart

After winning both the Test and One-Day International (ODI) series, India were expected to win the T20Is as well against hosts West Indies, who are lethal in the format. However, poor batting, and flustered captaincy, witnessed India lose the five-match T20I series 3-2, despite making a comeback and levelling it 2-2.

The fifth and final T20I on Sunday, saw the Hardik Pandya-led XI lose emphatically against Rovman Powell's troops, inviting criticism from not only fans by former players as well.

Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad, who lately has been vocal about India's mediocre performance, slammed the Rahul Dravid-coached side. Prasad, taking to social media platform 'X', posted that India could improve going forward, and not make silly statements over and over again.

'Players can't be yes men': Venkatesh Prasad

"India has been a very very ordinary limited overs side for sometime now. They have been humbled by a West Indies side that failed to qualify for the T20 WC few months back. We had also lost to Ban (Bangladesh) in the ODI series. Hope they introspect instead of making silly statements."

"India needs to improve their skillset. Their is a hunger & intensity deficiency & often the captain looked clueless. Bowler’s can’t bat, batsmen can’t bowl. It’s important to not look for yes men and be blinded because someone is your favourite player but look at the larger good."

Responding to a fan query, the former bowling coach, praised MS Dhoni, who actually focused on process, unlike the current team management, who are responsible for India's recent downfall.

"They are responsible for the debacle and need to be accountable. Process and such words are misused now. MS meant it, guys now just use the word. There is no consistency in selection, random stuff happening too much."

India's next international assignment will be a three-match T20I against Ireland before they play the Asia Cup 2023.
