A high-flying Indian unit was humbled by West Indies in the series-deciding fifth T20I by eight wickets in Florida.

Suryakumar Yadav anchors India to 165

Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, fresh off their match-winning half-centuries in the previous tie, were both dismissed within the powerplay by West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein. Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson and captain Hardik Pandya also failed to capitalise on their starts, while Axar Patel scored 13 crucial runs in the death overs.

Suryakumar Yadav, at number three, consolidated the Indian innings since his early arrival and ensured the visitors put forth a respectable total upfront. The cricketer listed 61 from just 45 balls to register his 15th T20I half-century and countered the likes of Hosein and Romario Shepherd with ease.

For hosts, Shepherd finished with a four-fer while Hosein contained runs throughout his four runs courtesy of his two-wicket burst in the opening spell.

Pooran, King blast Indian bowlers in run-chase

After Arshdeep Singh dismissed Kyle Mayers in his first over, opener Brandon King and number three Nicholas Pooran tore into Indian bowlers to seal the fate of the series. The latter of the two dealt in sixes throughout his 35-ball stay at the crease, until he was dismissed by part-timer Tilak Varma following a rain interruption.

Thereafter, King guided West Indies past the finishing line with time to spare through his unbeaten 85 from 55 balls. The knock, also marking his career-best T20I score, was fuelled with five boundaries and six towering sixes.
