The former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni is expected to take a few months to decide on his future in the illustrous Indian Premier League (IPL).

Despite speculations about his retirement after CSK's loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Dhoni has not conveyed any retirement plans to the CSK management.

According to the Times of India, Dhoni told the management, "He will wait for a couple of months before taking a final call. Dhoni has not told anybody in CSK that he is quitting. He did not feel any discomfort in running between the wickets, which is a plus."

Dhoni's performance in IPL 2024 showed that he still has much to offer. The 42-year-old played all league matches for CSK, scoring 161 runs at an impressive average of 53.67 and a strike rate of 220.5.

His remarkable knocks against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals reminded fans of his glory days.

The 'Impact Player' rule could influence the decision to continue playing, allowing Dhoni to focus on specific roles within the team.

"We will wait for Dhoni's communication. He always has the best interests of the team in mind; let's see what happens," a CSK official said.

The upcoming IPL mega auction will also affect Dhoni's future, where teams need to decide on player retentions. This factor adds another layer of complexity to Dhoni's decision.
