MS Dhoni played his last match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) on Saturday, May 18. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing fifth in the points table after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 27 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. 

The defending champions needed 201 runs in their second innings to surpass RCB and secure a playoff spot but ended their chase at 191/7.

In his final match against RCB, the legendary cricketer contributed a quickfire of 25 off 13 balls before being dismissed in the last over.

Ahead of the IPL 2024, MS Dhoni, handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad and continued as the wicketkeeper-batter despite battling a knee injury. Throughout the season, he scored 161 runs in 11 innings with an impressive strike rate of 220.55.

It is anticapted that the legendary keeper-batter has played his last IPL match, as he played the IPL 2024 with a knee injury and his return next year would be highly likely. 

However, neither the player nor his franchise have made an official announcement over Dhoni's retirement from the IPL.
