One of India's big-match players in knockouts, former opener Gautam Gambhir, has revealed his favourte cricketing partner from his playing days. Gambhir, who opened with Team India with players such as Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, picked India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as his favourite.

Gambhir played crucial roles in Dhoni's T20 World Cup 2007 and World Cup 2011 wins, scoring 75 and 97 runs, respectively, that helped India clinch both titles. Speaking to Sportskeeda, Gambhir, who has been vocal about Dhoni stealing the limelight from a World Cup win, claimed that he loved batting with the latter more than any other batter in the Indian team.

Interestingly, both Gambhir and Dhoni stitched a match-winning 109-run stand for India against Sri Lanka in the 2011 World Cup Final in Mumbai, where the latter scored an unbeaten 91 as well.

Here's what Gautam Gambhir said

"My favourite cricketing partner was MS Dhoni. People think that my favourite partner was Virender Sehwag but I actually loved playing more with Dhoni, especially in white-ball cricket."

Gambhir's relationship with Dhoni has been ever-changing as the former KKR captain often shifts between speaking good and bad about the former captain.

Meanwhile, Dhoni is currently enjoying his time away from cricket while undergoing rehabilitation, while Gambhir is busy playing in the Legends Cricket League 2023, leading the India Capitals. Gambhir is the third-highest run-getter with 63, behind Solomon Mire (70) and Irfan Pathan (65).
