Even at the age of 43, Captain Cool’s brilliance is perfectly in place. From fitness to smashing big hits, MSD is set to entertain his fans again. Former India batter Robin Uthappa believes the ex-captain might take the finisher’s spot, maximizing impact with fewer deliveries.

In the practice session, he is still grabbing attention with his powerful shots. Before he steps into the upcoming season, former Indian batter Robin Uthappa backs Captain Cool to shine in the finisher's role again.

“As far as Mahi is concerned, I think we will get to see glimpses of his brilliance because I have a feeling that he might bat at number 7 or number 8. Very much like last year, and we will see him bat between 12 and 20 balls through the season.” Uthappa said.

The buzz around MS Dhoni’s IPL future refuses to fade. After IPL 2024, speculation ran wild, but Captain Cool silenced the doubts as CSK retained him. As he is set to take part in the IPL 2025 at the age of 43, buzz has started rising all over again. But Uthappa thinks the former Indian captain can extend his IPL career for another four years depending on his fitness and form.

“I don't think the passion ever dies. MS’ love for the game has not dwindled at all. I think his passion for the game keeps him going. At 43, I think he's got the fastest hands in the world as a wicketkeeper.” he said.


“And if you've got those skills and if you've got the passion to keep going. I don't think anything should stop you. I won't be surprised if he retires at the end of the season. But I won't be surprised if he even goes on to play for another four seasons after this.” he added.

As Chennai Super Kings is set to step into another edition of the marquee event with their rich legacy, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to lead the team from the front.
