In what turned out to be one of the finest games in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders clinched a thrilling victory over Rajasthan Royals by just one run. After some excellent fielding and outstanding effort with the bat, Knight Riders' Rinku Singh spoke after the game.
Rinku Singh Declares What He Enjoys More
In what was an absolute humdinger, Kolkata Knight Riders prevented a massive scare in the final over courtesy of a brilliant fielding effort from Rinku Singh, who threw the ball just in time to prevent the batters from reaching their crease as he enforced a run out, helping the home side win by just a single run.
After the game, Rinku, who smashed 19* off just six deliveries with a boundary and two sixes, spoke about what went through the game.
When asked about his fielding, he asserted that the outfield here at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata is lightning fast and, in fact, one of the quickest in the world. Whereas, he further went on to say that he usually fields in the outfield after the mandatory powerplay gets over.
Furthermore, the left-hander then clarified that it does not have a set mindset, but the fact that he enjoys his fielding more than batting, which is why he loves running around and taking outstanding catches while enforcing some unbelievable run-outs.
"It was very important. Everyone knows the outfield is very quick. After powerplay, I usually field in the outfield. I enjoy it. Mindset is nothing, I just enjoy my fielding. More than batting, I enjoy fielding."
To the unversed, Rinku made some outstanding efforts diving around, saving certain boundaries while his run-out prevented what could have been a tied game.
Kolkata Knight Riders Stay Alive
After this incredibly hard, nerve-racking victory, the Kolkata Knight Riders stay afloat in the competition, as they now have five wins in 11 games, which means they are sixth on the table with 11 points and a net run rate of +0.249.
A loss in this encounter would have ended their campaign, but they now somehow stay afloat in the competition with three more games to go, whereas they would be up against Chennai Super Kings on the 7th of May.
Earlier in the day, KKR batted first and posted 206 on the board on the back of an excellent batting performance from Andre Russell who thumped 57* off 25 deliveries, whereas Angkrish Raghuvanshi's 44 and Rinku's 19* helped them get to the desired total.
In reply, Rajasthan reached as far as 205, falling short by one run, where skipper Riyan Parag played a blinder of 95 from just 45 deliveries, which included eight maximums but couldn't see his side over the line.
