Yashasvi Jaiswal shaped 93 unbeaten runs against Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I to seal the five-match series for Team India in style.

The youngster shared an unbroken 156-run partnership with captain and opening partner Shubman Gill to guide India to a 3-1 lead with nearly five overs to spare at the Harare Sports Club.

Fittingly declared as ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts, young Yashasvi shared his pre-match mindset and described his experience of opening the batting with Shubman Gill.

Yashasvi Jaiswal exults after India’s series win

While speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he had made different plans for tackling each Zimbabwe bowler, and praised the playing surface on offer at the Harare Sports Club. The 22-year-old also talked about his bond with the stand-in skipper and how the two compliment each other really well.

“I think I really enjoyed today. The wicket was good today. I had different plans for different bowlers and I enjoyed my batting. When the ball was new, it was coming onto the bat. But once it got old, it got slower. I changed the way I batted. Me and Shubman enjoy batting together. Initially, I thought I would go on in the first 10 overs. But after spending some time in the middle, I realized how to bat and stay unbeaten till the end and win the game for my side.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal also smacked a quickfire 36 on his comeback game in the previous T20I of the ongoing series against Zimbabwe.

Regardless, Jaiswal faced just 58 deliveries to smear 93 unbeaten runs and laced his innings with 13 boundaries and a couple of sixes. His knock, coupled with Shubman Gill’s 58* helped India gun down Zimbabwe’s 152-7 with 10 wickets and 4.4 overs to spare.

Team India will now face Zimbabwe in the fifth and final T20I of the series on July 14 at the same venue.
