‘Love To Put Him Under Pressure…’ SKY Hails Axar Patel After India's Series Win Over Australia

Team India, under Suryakumar Yadav, romped home to a comfortable win over Australia in the fourth T20I of their five-match home series. Emboldened by suave death-over knocks from young guns Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma, senior man Axar Patel and his spin protégé Ravi Bishnoi strangulated the visitors in their run-chase as India sealed the series with a game to spare.

After the match, skipper Suryakumar praised Rinku and Jitesh’s batting bombardment and also hailed Axar’s spin dexterity for halting the Australian juggernaut.

Suryakumar Yadav praises Indian trio after big win

Speaking at the post-match presentation after India’s 20-run win, stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav praised youngsters Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma for overcoming the team’s top-order jitters after losing the toss in Raipur.

After three quick wickets had reduced the ‘Men in Blue’ to 63-3, Rinku unleashed 46 from just 29 balls while Jitesh produced a 19-ball 35, and their collective death-over fury allowed the hosts to storm to a competitive 174. Praising their batting assault in the backend of the innings, Suryakumar said:

“After losing a few quick wickets, the wickets of the senior batters, credit goes to those youngsters (Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma) for the way they batted and got us to a competitive score.”

The Indian captain also lavished huge praise on senior man Axar Patel for his economical three-fer at the top of the Australian innings. When asked why he was not tasked with bowling the death overs, Suryakumar added:

“I always love to put Axar Patel under pressure. He bowls very well when put under pressure. The way he bowled tonight was unbelievable. The plan was very clear, to bowl yorkers on the stumps, and we'll take it from there. If that doesn't work, we'll see what happens.”

With series in the bag, the Indian team will now face Australia in the fifth and final T20I in Bengaluru on December 3.
