Upon landing at Canberra airport on Friday, the Pakistan team, under the captaincy of Shan Masood, found themselves in a situation far removed from the comfort of their Emirates flight from Karachi.
No VIP Treatment for Pakistan players upon their arrival in Australia
A video that quickly went viral showed the players, including notable figures like Mohammad Rizwan, personally loading their luggage into a truck outside the airport. This scene starkly contrasted with the luxurious air travel previously depicted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), revealing a less-than-glamorous reality upon their arrival.
The absence of any official welcome from either the Pakistan embassy or Cricket Australia was notable, leaving the team to fend for themselves in terms of luggage handling. This incident has sparked diverse reactions on social media.
While some fans expressed dismay at the lack of hospitality and support for the national team, others found a lighter note in the unusual sight of international cricketers managing their baggage.
Despite this unconventional start to their Australian tour, the Pakistan team, guided by interim coach Mohammad Hafeez and with a lineup selected by chief selector Wahab Riaz, remains focused on their cricketing goals.
Their tour kicks off with a four-day match against the Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, followed by three Test matches in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney. The team, which has yet to secure a Test win in Australia, will be eager to overturn their fortunes and make a significant impact in the upcoming series.
