Indian skipper Rohit Sharma stands atop the cricketing world after leading India to a historic ICC title victory. Guiding his team to glory, Rohit was instrumental in India's triumph over South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval, Barbados on June 29 (Saturday).

In a heartfelt video recorded by the BCCI during his photoshoot with the trophy, Rohit shared his emotions about the unforgettable night.

"Last night we had a good time, we had a blast with the teammates till the early morning. I couldn't stop grinning before becoming a touch emotional. I would say I didn't sleep properly but that's absolutely fine by me. There is a lot of time for me to go back and sleep."

Just an hour after India's monumental win, Rohit announced that the final was his last match for India in the T20 format. He joined Virat Kohli, the match-winner, in retiring from T20Is. This double retirement marks the end of an era for Indian cricket, closing a chapter filled with remarkable achievements and unforgettable moments. 

Rohit & co. are set to fly home on Tuesday evening, after Barbados PM confirmed that the airport will become operational within the next six to 12 hours, ending the shutdown caused by a category 4 hurricane.
