In a surprising turn of events, reports suggest that South African wicketkeeper-batsman, Quinton de Kock might be traded from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2024. De Kock, who recently made waves with his stellar performances in the World Cup 2023, has been a consistent force for LSG in the IPL.
The 31-year-old left-hander, with a reputation for aggressive batting, has played 96 IPL matches, amassing 2907 runs at an impressive average of 32.30. Lucknow Super Giants acquired him for Rs 6.75 crore in the IPL 2023 auction and chose to retain him. However, the latest buzz in the cricketing circles suggests a potential trade deal that could see De Kock donning the Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey.
The star batsman was acquired by SRH in 2013 for 10 lakhs and made IPL debut against Pune Warriors.
The IPL 2024 auction is scheduled for December 19 in Dubai, with each franchise having a budget of Rs. 100 crore. If the trade materializes, it could be a game-changer for SRH, injecting more firepower into their batting lineup.
However, Lucknow Super Giants might like to acquire Mayank Agarwal in the trade deal. It is worth noting that LSG's skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal are good friends.
De Kock's absence in the early matches of IPL 2023 was attributed to his national team commitments with South Africa. Despite a relatively quiet IPL season, his impactful performances on the international stage have kept him in the spotlight.
