'Let Him Go...' CSK Legend Suggests Siraj Should Be Rested Amidst Poor Form In IPL

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has strongly advised Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to consider resting their fast-bowling spearhead, Mohammed Siraj, following another disappointing performance in IPL 2024 against Mumbai Indians (MI).

RCB's journey in IPL 2024 has been disheartening up to this point, making it seem improbable for them to secure their first-ever title this season.

Siraj should be rested: Former IPL winner

While a few batters have shown promising signs with the bat, none of the bowlers, including Siraj, have stepped up as they have failed to deliver their best for the Bengaluru-based franchise.

According to the Turbanator, Siraj needs to take a step back and reflect on what has been going wrong for him in the competition. Although Siraj enjoyed a successful run of form in 2023, his performances in the IPL this season have been largely below par.

"If I was part of the management, I would give him rest for a couple of games. Let him go back and think about what's been happening with him. He has been the same Siraj whom we have seen taking wickets with the new ball, whether it's Test cricket, one-day cricket or even in this format. He has been a champion bowler for Team India and even for RCB. I feel he is not doing what he is required to do,"  Harbhajan Singh told Star Sports.

During the match against MI in Mumbai, the right-arm seam bowler conceded 37 runs in three overs without claiming any wickets, which played a part in MI's win. This spell highlighted Siraj's struggle, having secured only four wickets in six matches with an average of 57.25. This stands in sharp contrast to his IPL 2023 performance, where he captured 19 wickets at an average of 19.79.
