Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has thrown his weight behind Sarfaraz Khan, urging the team to give the young talent a fair shot in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 25-24 in Australia. When asked about Sarfaraz’s ability to perform in the tough Australian conditions, Ganguly had a straightforward response: let him prove himself on the field before making judgments.

"You have to give him a chance to know. How can you say anything without giving him an opportunity? Let him fail first. He has scored tons of runs in domestic cricket and has earned his spot in the team. No one has given it to him. So don't write him off before you have given him a chance. Once you do so, then you will be in a position to judge. I am very clear - you must give him an opportunity to know how good or bad he is. Without doing so, don't pass judgment on him," Ganguly said.

Sourav Ganguly’s message is clear: players should be tested in different conditions to gauge their true potential instead of being dismissed based on assumptions.

India Eye WTC Final Spot

The Indian team is gearing up for their first Test against Australia on November 22 at the iconic WACA in Perth. Unlike previous series, this one carries added pressure. With a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final on the line, India, currently second on the table, must win at least four of the five matches to secure their place in the summit clash.

This series is historic—it marks the first five-match Test series between India and Australia since 1991-92. After the opener in Perth, the teams will head to Adelaide for a pink-ball Test (December 6-10), followed by matches in Brisbane, Melbourne, and finally Sydney from January 3 to 7.
