India will kickstart their Super 8 journey in the T20 World Cup 2024 when they lock horns against Afghanistan on June 20 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The Men in Blue have had a fantastic tournament so far, as they are one of the four teams present in this World Cup to have not lost a single game. However, things get different from this stage and the matches  are expected to be more competitive.

Ahead of the Afghanistan tie, the question that has been directed towards the management by the fans and the pundits is whether India will retain the winning XI or make changes to their combination.

The fact of the matter is that India played all their games at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York where it was a paradise for the seamers. But now the tournament has shifted to the Caribbean where the batters would also have a say.

The pundits have demanded a proper spinner to be added to the playing XI. Neither Kuldeep Yadav nor Yuzvendra Chahal have played a single game in this edition. In the latest events, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has backed Kuldeep to make it to the playing XI for the Super 8 round.

Fleming stated that India must not adapt to one style of playing and add Kuldeep to increase their wicket-taking flair.

"I would think maybe Kuldeep would come in to provide that extra bit of wicket-taking flair if the wickets do provide the turn as they get a little bit more used and you get closer to the end of the tournament," he said during ‘ESPNCricinfo Timeout show’.

"But they've still got that opportunity now to do both which is good and horses for courses, you can't be so set in one way of playing that you miss the opportunities to take advantage of conditions."

Notably, Fleming has guided CSK to five IPL titles and he too was rumoured to be applying for the position of Indian head coach as Rahul Dravid is all set to vacate the position after T20 World Cup 2024 gets over.
