A sensational bowling spell from 22-year-old Kranti Goud propelled India to a commanding 88-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. The right-arm quick was devastatingly accurate, finishing with figures of 3 for 20 from her 10 overs, which included three maidens.

Moreover, Goud's Player of the Match display was built on a foundation of relentless discipline, a trait she detailed in a heartfelt post-match press conference.

Goud reveals secret behind laser focus display

Emerging as India's newest bowling sensation, Kranti Goud revealed that her success stems not from a quest for extra speed, but from an unwavering focus on consistency and hitting the right areas, a philosophy drilled into her by the team's coaches.

"I’m really happy. Being the Player of the Match today is a very proud moment for me and my family. My India debut was in Sri Lanka, and today I’ve been named Player of the Match here in Sri Lanka again. I’m truly very happy," Goud told the media.

"Right now, we haven’t spoken much about my speed. The main focus has been on my line and length, making sure I’m bowling in the right areas. That’s what we talk about the most. Other than that, there hasn’t been much discussion about increasing my pace. The focus is just on maintaining that consistency, nothing extra. Still, I’d like to bowl faster going forward ... (but) I’m comfortable with the pace I’m bowling at," Goud summed up.

Goud admits to overruling Harman's strategy

Goud also shed light on a key tactical moment during the match, where her self-belief overruled her captain's suggestion, leading directly to a crucial breakthrough that showcased her growing confidence on the world stage.

"When I came on for my second spell, Harman (India captain Harmanpreet Kaur) said, 'it’s an old ball now, let’s remove the slip.' But I told her, 'no, let me bowl with the slip for now, I feel like I can get a wicket here.' And that’s exactly what happened. I got the second wicket. I had that belief in myself," Goud said.

With this win, India moves to the top of the table and will look to continue their unbeaten run against South Africa on Thursday, while Pakistan faces a tough challenge against Australia on Wednesday.
