India's premier batters Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma failed miserably in the third and final ODI against Australia A. Both batters, who were in top form after the Asia Cup 2025 victory, had disappointing outings. Tilak Varma managed only 3 runs while Abhishek Sharma failed to cross the 30-run mark.

The third and final ODI in Kanpur serves as the series decider, with the three-match contest currently tied at 1-1. Batting first, Australia A set a challenging target of 317 runs for India A to chase. The match is ongoing, but India’s top-order collapse, especially from the more experienced players, has left the hosts on the back foot.

Abhishek and Tilak's fall hurts after Asia Cup heroics

Abhishek Sharma was the first to fall after India A began their chase. The opener scored 22 runs off 25 balls before being dismissed by Todd Murphy on the second ball of the 12th over. Soon after, Tilak Varma followed in the 14th over, contributing just 3 runs off 6 balls before also falling to Todd Murphy.

Both batters, who shone brightly in the Asia Cup, with Abhishek scoring 314 runs and Tilak starring as the match-winner in the final against Pakistan, have disappointed fans with their performance today.

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh played a gritty knock of 102 runs off just 68 balls. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Riyan Parag are currently at the crease, leading India A’s chase after the loss of three wickets.

Australia put up strong show in front of India A

From Australia’s side, Cooper Connolly, Liam Scott, and captain Jack Edwards produced memorable innings to help their team post 316 runs. For India A, pacers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana picked up three wickets each, while Ayush Badoni added two to his name.

Australia A, who were struggling at 44/4 within the first eight overs, staged a strong comeback thanks to key partnerships between Connolly and Lachlan Shaw, and later between Edwards and Liam Scott.
