The 12 years of waiting have finally come to an end as Team India lifted the Champions Trophy 2025. After having a dream run in the entire tournament, Rohit Smarma and Co. lifted their second ICC Trophy within a span of eight months.

After a nerve-wracking chase, Team India sealed the victory over the Kiwis, and Jadeja’s last boundary turned the dream into reality. After the victory, Jadeja reflects over his batting position and says ‘‘either a hero or a zero”.

Jadeja Reflects On His Batting Position

After years of waiting, the nation burst into an untimely Diwali as the Men in Blue conquered New Zealand in a nail-biting Champions Trophy 2025 final. Rohit Sharma and Co. lifted the trophy with an unbeaten streak and scripted history.

In the entire tournament, Jadeja’s brilliance shined all over the tournament, especially as a lower-order batter. The final match was no exception as Jadeja’s boundary sealed the victory and unlocked the desired momentum. After Hardik Pandya’s dismissal, he joined Rahul on the field and assisted him in securing the victory. After the win, Jadeja reflected on his role in the batting order.

“Mera number aisa hai ki kabhi hero ya kabhi zero banane ka chance hota hai (My batting number is such that I’m either a hero or a zero at the end of the game). Luckily, Hardik and KL batted really well in the last 10 overs and stitched a crucial partnership. It was not easy to score runs in the middle, but credit goes to both of them as they took a lot of pressure from us.” Jadeja said.

Jadeja On Fulfilling The Title Dream

Despite winning the T20 World Cup 2024, ICC ODI success had eluded Team India until the Champions Trophy 2025 changed it all. After starting the tournament with a victory over Bangladesh, Team India lifted the trophy, continuing the unbeaten streak. While talking about the victory, Jadeja said that winning consecutive ICC Trophies made the moment more special.

“This is a massive moment for me. It takes a lot of pride to win a big tournament for India. Luckily, we have won two back to back ICC Trophies and we are really happy with it.” he said.

The Dubai International Stadium hosted a nail-biting thriller, and Team India and New Zealand faced each other in an unmissable encounter. After spinners nailed the show in the first innings, the intense second innings pushed the excitement to a higher level. But the Indian batters’ controlled batting sealed the win over the Kiwis and lifted the title.
