Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, famously nicknamed the ‘Poker Face of Cricket’ for his trademark intensity, finally let his guard down, but not before dropping a mic-worthy poetry verse and an impromptu bhangra break.

After scripting India’s thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, Gambhir swapped his tactical clipboard for a shayari duel and dance moves, leaving fans in splits and social media buzzing.

Gambhir Takes A Sly Dig At Critics With His Shayari

Known for his laser-focused grimace, Gambhir lived up to his reputation during the high-voltage clash, barely blinking as he paced the dugout, erupting in fist-pumps every time India struck gold. But the real plot twist came post-match when the newly crowned ICC trophy-winning coach unleashed his inner Mirza Ghalib.

In a post-match chat bursting with banter, Gambhir hijacked the mic from "Sher-e-Punjab" Navjot Singh Sidhu, challenging him to a poetic face-off.

"Gauti bhai… dekho…". Gambhir, grinning slyly said, "Forget about me. You please recite your sher. Or shall I?" Sidhu replied, "Alright. Go ahead." Gambhir then moved forward with his shayari, "Fann kuchalne ka hunar seekhiye janaab…" Sidhu completes it saying, "Saanpo ke darr se jungle nahi chore jaate," Sidhu said.

Cue laughter, applause, and Sidhu’s next dare, "Show us some bhangra!" Gambhir initially protested, but Sidhu and commentator Aakash Chopra turned cheerleaders, coaxing him into grooving to Sauda Khara Khara.

The moment was gold as cricket's one of the most stoic strategists unleashed a desi two-step, proving even chess-master coaches have hidden hip-swinging talents.

India Team Celebrates The Win

The victory marked India’s third Champions Trophy crown, adding to its 2002 and 2013 triumphs. Notably, the Indian team blasted off in celebrations with Sunil Gavaskar too grooving with the win

But this time, the post-match party wasn’t just about the trophy, it was about a coach who traded his serious playbook for poetry, punchlines, and Punjabi swag.
