After declining the New Zealand central contract, opener Finn Allen is all set to join Perth Scorchers for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season. As per ESPNCricinfo, he will sign a lucrative two-year deal with the franchise.

After NZ contract rejection, Allen set sights on BBL

The deal with Perth Scorchers will be officially announced in the coming few days. Allen, a destructive opener has been in great form as of late in the T20s. The power-packed batter strikes at 168.60 and also has the second highest strike-rate for any batter who has scored in excess of 3,000 runs, after West Indies' Andre Russell.

The Kiwi opener already has two centuries in T20Is for his nation, however, the talented opener had a disappointing T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, where he could only score 35 runs in four innings.

A couple of days ago, Allen, alongside fellow opener, Devon Conway declined New Zealand's central contracts. Conway, however has signed a casual agreement with the NZ board, just like the former skipper, Kane Williamson.

He is willing to play matches for New Zealand, but won't take part in the upcoming Sri Lanka series, as he will play SA20 during that period.

Conway and Allen join the likes of Lockie Ferguson, Williamson, Trent Boult, and Adam Milne as the Kiwi players who have rejected the NZ contract.
