'Jalan Toh Puri Dikhti Hai'- Mohammed Shami Slams Ex-PAK Batter Over 'Ball Change' Claims

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami was at his imperious best at the 2023 World Cup last year. Despite featuring in the playing XI only after India's first four league stage fixtures, the seasoned speedster topped the tournament's wicket-taking charts with 24 scalps at an average of just 10.70.

His teammate Jasprit Bumrah also created much ruckus among the opposition's batting line-ups, as he snapped up 20 wickets along the way to headline India's runners-up campaign at home.

With Shami, Bumrah, as well as Mohammed Siraj, basking themselves in glory and much adulation from across the cricketing spectrum, former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza suspected foul play by alleging that the Indian pace trio were receiving "different balls" from the match officials.

In an interview, Raza also implied that Indian bowlers were enjoying the benefits of some close DRS calls by umpires.

While his comments were widely disregarded by fans and followers of the sport, even from his fellow countrymen and legends like Wasim Akram, Indian paceman Mohammed Shami seems to have minced no words in besmirching the former Pakistan Test player.

Shami launches another verbal attack on Hasan

Shortly after the 2023 World Cup, Mohammed Shami gave a brutal response to Hasan Raza for making controversial allegations against the Indian pace attack.

Quite recently, Shami launched another tirade at the former Pakistan cricketer after he was asked to express his opinion during an interview with News18. While speaking with the Indian news outlet, the senior paceman claimed that the people making such unverified accusations are just "jealous" over India's cricketing record of late. He said:

“Actually, they have made cricket a joke because we don't enjoy each other's success. You become too happy when you are being praised, but when you lose, you feel that you have been cheated. You look at the records of the time we have been part of the team, you won't even find them close. Jalan toh puri dikhti hai wo. Itna jalane se kon se results mil jaane hain (Jealously is evident. You can never get good results with this amount of jealously).”

As of now, Mohammed Shami is working towards attaining full recovery from his ankle injury. The cricketer has not featured in a single international for Team India since the 2023 World Cup. However, several reports indicate that Shami will be making his return in time for the IPL 2024 season.
