Super Kings zealot Imran Tahir grabbed a sensational diving catch for the JSK franchise in the Eliminator clash of the ongoing SA20 2024 season.

The fielding brilliance of the former South African cricketer helped his teammate Sam Cook get rid of Paarl Royals’ number three Mitchell Van Buuren for a two-ball duck before JSK seized a nine-wicket win to advance to the second qualifier.

Tahir also starred with the ball as he claimed two key Paarl Royals wickets in the innings from his four-over spell.

In the third over of the Paarl Royals innings, number three batsman Mitchell Van Buuren was hurried onto his pull shot by JSK speedster Sam Cook. Having gone miles up in the air, the ball swirled on its way down before 44-year-old Imran Tahir pulled out a sensational dive to complete the catch.

Buuren subsequently made his way back to the sheds for a two-ball duck as Paarl Royals slumped to 26-2 inside the first three overs.

Imran Tahir also dismissed Bjorn Fortuin and Paarl Royals captain David Miller in quick succession to finish with figures of 2-33 from four overs. His spell, coupled with Sam Cook’s four-fer and Nandre Burger’s three-wicket haul, helped JSK restrict the Royals to just 138 upfront.

JSK openers Leus du Plooy and Faf du Plessis cracked dazzling half-centuries in the run-chase to overhaul their target with nearly seven overs to spare.

With nine wickets to his name this SA20 2024 season, Tahir will now turn up for his side in their Qualifier 2 clash against Durban’s Super Giants on February 8. The match will be hosted by the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
