In the afternoon match on Sunday between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Shubhman Gill-led GT secured a vehement win by a seven-wicket margin in IPL 2024 at the famous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Pat Cummins won the toss but unlike the World Cup 2023 Final, did not make the right call as Sunrisers Hyderabad's score of 162/8 was easily chased down by Gujarat Titans.

Veteran seamer Mohit Sharma showcased his skills in the final over of the match he claimed impressive figures of 3/25 and turned the match in Gujarat's favour.

After a comprehensive seven-wicket win Gill Speaks:

"It's great to win two matches at home. Two more to go and then we go on the road. Our bowlers were splendid in the middle overs. Both Rashid (Khan) and Noor (Ahmad) were great. Rashid is world-class. Mohit (Sharma) is such an experienced bowler. He comes in and bowls the slower bouncers. Executes his variations perfectly. All credit to him," said Gill at post match interview.

In this heat, it's easier to bat early in day games. So, we wanted to make them hit the bigger boundary off slower balls. We thought 160-170 would be a good score. Our bowlers restricted them. The players are clear with their respective roles. It was important for (David) Miller to get back in him. Thankfully, he came good. He's not injured. Just cramps."

The Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) Journey for Gujarat Titans began with a convincing victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at their home ground. But faced a setback against Chennai Super Kings in their second match in Chennai.

On the other hand, SRH kick-started their 2024 campaign in the cash-rich league with a disheartening loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with a loss of four runs.

However, they made a comeback in their second game against Mumbai Indians securing a 31-run victory.

Gujarat Titans will face Punjab Kings on April 4, 2024, at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad will play against five-time champions CSK on April 5, 2024, at iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
