In the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), the Delhi Capitals have had an unforgettable start to their campaign losing both of their opening fixtures of the cash-rich league. The Rishabh Pant-led side lost their opening game against Punjab Kings by four wickets and their second match against Rajasthan Royals by 12 runs.

In the 13th Match of the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals are facing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Vizag. Despite the return of Rishabh Pant nothing has been in favour of Delhi in their two opening matches.

Ahead of today's fixture, Delhi Capital's head coach Ricky Ponting hinted at the possibility of the return of Prithvi Shaw in the playing XI against Chennai

Ricky Ponting on Prithvi Shaw's Return In Playing XI:

"Yeah, he's (Pritvi Shaw) definitely pushing for it. He has worked hard in the last couple of weeks. Obviously, our team make-up in the first game without obviously (Anrich) Nortje being in allowed us to play four overseas batsmen. So by doing that, we pushed Mitchell Marsh to the top of the order, which pushed Prithvi out of the side," said Ponting.

Delhi Capitals' strategy on benching Prithvi Shaw in both matches that they have played in the tournament came as a surprise. David Warner has opened the batting for DC with Mitchell Marsh.

"So, yeah, we'll have a really good look at Prithvi at training and see how well he plays in the nets. And if he impresses everybody today, we'll definitely consider him for selection. We feel that a really good game is just around the corner for us. In fact, I am sure we will have a more positive intent going into this game," he further added.

Delhi Capitals will try to come back stronger and clinch their first victory of the tournament against the CSK led by newly appointed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
